2017 Community Activity of the Year Award: Fr. Robert W. McDonald Council 395

The 2017 Community Activity of the Year Award went to Fr. Robert W. McDonald Council 395.

At the start of the fraternal year, Council 395 decided to greatly augment its charitable outreach. To do this a new form of fund raising would have to be chosen, and members decided on a Casino Night. A committee was put in place to drive the effort.

Knights of the council went to friends, associates, business colleagues and local businesses to solicit donations. A professional gaming company was hired to conduct the games in the council's Columbian Center.

As the games proceeded the outdoor patio was filled with food and candlelight. More than 100 people were in attendance, and over $13,000 raised and distributed to the Little Sisters of the Poor, KOVAR, VKCCI and the Pregnancy Resource Center.
