2017 Council Activity of the Year Award:

St. Thomas More Cathedral Council 6790

 Cathedral Council 6790 was the winner of the 2017 Council Activity of the Year Award, for putting together a dinner honoring Arlington Diocese Bishop Paul S. Loverde on his retirement after 50 years as a priest, 40 years as a Knight of Columbus and 17 years as Bishop of Arlington.

The event began with a dinner at Bishop Loverde’s favorite Italian restaurant, Portofino. It included presentations from Master of Ceremonies Father Rippy who read letters from Archbishop Lori and Archbishop Broglio.

District Deputy Kelly Niernberger and Grand Knight John Knox also made presentations with closing remarks from Bishop Loverde. There were more than 60 people in attendance, including all of the Virginia State Officers, many members of the clergy, including the Vicar General and Secretary to the Bishop. The Council presented Bishop Loverde with a custom gold Pectoral Cross with inlaid emeralds and the Knights of Columbus Jewel in the middle.
